California Computer Science Demand

California has one of the best computer science and technology job markets in the country. If you can think of large technology company, there is a good chance that it is located in one of the major metro areas in California. For example, the San Jose, Sunnyvale and Santa Clara area is the home of Silicon Valley and has companies such as Google, Apple, Intel, and Netflix among many others. All of them have corporate offices here, and there are more start ups coming in all the time. Thousands of technology workers come to California annually, with 134 tech jobs for every 1000 workers.

Another major computer science job hub here is San Francisco, Oakland and Hayward. Making their home in this area is Facebook in Menlo Park, Youtube in San Bruno and Pixar in Emeryville. It has 73 tech jobs per 1000 jobs.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports there are 590,550 technology and mathematical jobs in the state, which is by far the most in the US; the next closest is Texas with 353,000. There is 1.2% job growth in the state in this area of the economy, with 35.3 workers per 1000 jobs.

CompTIA reported there are 1,749,000 technology workers in the state as of 2017, and a net gain of 43,600 jobs from 2016 to 2017, ranking it #1 i the country.
