Colorado Computer Science Demand

Employment in the technology and computer science industries increased by an impressive 6,530 jobs in 2017, and the contribution of the tech industry in Colorado climbed above $43 billion, according to CompTIA.

Technology employment in the state grew by 2.3% in 2017, which was the #10 highest rate in the country. With a total number of technology workers at 285,000, Colorado now ranks #15 in the country. The state is also ranked #9 in the country for innovation, which is a decrease from #4 the year before.

CompTIA also noted in 2016 that employers across the state posted more than 11,000 job postings for cybersecurity professionals. Also, a total of 17,182 professionals were employed in the cybersecurity field in Colorado that year, with top cities being Denver, Colorado Springs, Boulder, and Fort Collins. Some of the job postings had job titles for cybersecurity analyst, network engineer, cybersecurity engineer and IT director.

At the University of Colorado – Boulder, you can earn a bachelor of science in computer science that will provide you with a wide array of skills that will ready you for many types of high paying jobs in the computer field. This university’s department of computer science is collaborative and interdisciplinary, and you will have the chance to explore many applications in many fields with a faculty skilled in many computer disciplines. Students in the bachelor’s program also can gain professional experience via the student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery.

The specialized track allows computer science students to tailor their bachelor’s degree to their own computer science interests.
