The state now has approximately 203,000 technology workers, and Missouri is ranked #20 in the country in net technology employment. Technology workers comprise 6.5% of the workforce in the state, and the technology sector is responsible for 7% of the economy in the Show Me state. The number of technology businesses grew by 2% in 2017 and now consists of 8300 businesses.

The University of Missouri’s College of Engineering offers a bachelor of science in computer science. This top computer science degree program stresses the study of algorithms, software systems, programming methodology, computational theories and algorithms, networking, computer graphics, cyber security and machine learning.

This bachelor’s program has a two semester capstone design course where students complete a design project that serves as a final academic experience. Internships with businesses for real world experience, as well as research opportunities, are offered and encouraged for all students. Students who finish the bachelor of science in computer science may work for government agencies, academic organizations, or private companies.

Bachelor’s students study software systems, computational theories and algorithms, computer organization, networking and programming.
