Nevada Campus-Based Computer Science Degrees

The following list shows the number of campus-based colleges offer Computer Science degrees throughout Nevada:

The University of Nevada, Reno offers both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science. This computer science and engineering department is known to be one of the best in the state and the western United States.

Whether students and faculty are working to make robots better understand what humans want them to do, or harnessing large amounts of data to assist researchers to study global warming and climate change, the department is passionate about working with technology and computers to change the world.

In 2010, in a response to industry trends and demands by employers, the department decided to consolidate computer science and computer engineering into one degree program at both the bachelor’s and master’s program.

The new curriculum combines the technical understanding of computer operation and design with the methodology and creativity that is needed to create advanced computer science technical solutions for the world’s most challenging problems.

The bachelor’s program in computer science and engineering has been accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission and the Engineering Accreditation Commission. Faculty in the department are active in many research opportunities that include robotics, networking and software systems. There are many research opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students so that they can work closely with professors and learn more about computer science academic research.

Graduate students have the opportunity to develop independent research programs with guidance from faculty and will graduate with the skills and knowledge to work in management industry, or pursue a doctorate in computer science.
