New Jersey Computer Science Demand

BLS reports there are 139,600 computer and mathematical workers in New Jersey, with 2.1% growth and 34.8 workers per 1000 jobs. According to recent reports, the technology sector in New Jersey has grown in recent years enough to put it in the same territory as Texas, California, Virginia and New York. New Jersey technology jobs that are categorized by BLS as computer systems design and related services have seen 5% job growth since December of 2015. The increasing availability of technology jobs has been outpacing Maryland, New York and Massachusetts.

Another major driver of technology and computer science employment in New Jersey is the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. There are many major pharmaceutical companies based here, including Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson.

CompTIA reported there are 337,900 technology professionals in the state as of 2017, with a gain of 2660 from 2016 to 2017.
