Utah Campus-Based Computer Science Degrees

The following list shows the number of campus-based colleges offer Computer Science degrees throughout Utah:

The School of Computing at the University of Utah offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science focused on software, as well as a bachelor of computer science degree with a focus on entertainment arts and engineering. Further, the school offers a bachelor of science in computer engineering, as well as a five year program that results in a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science.

The bachelor of science degree starts with a set of three classes that gives you a good background in object oriented programming, and also exposes you to the complex issues that arise in computer science. Students will then take seven classes in software engineering, discrete mathematics, computer organization, algorithms and data structures, theory and software systems. You then will build upon this strong computer science background by choosing several electives, such as theoretical computer science, scientific computing, artificial intelligence, operating systems, computer networks, graphics and programming languages.

The entertainment arts and engineering degree offers students cutting edge classes that are intended for students who want to pursue dynamic careers as video game engineers and to express themselves creatively with digital media. Courses are in video game design and development, 3D animation, and computer generated special effects.

The bachelor of science in computer engineering has classes on the design, implementation and programming of digital computers and computer controlled electronic systems. This degree will give you a strong background in computer science, mathematics, and engineering sciences so that you can analyze and design software and hardware systems of great complexity.

The BS and MS five year program can be a BS in either computer science or engineering, with an MS in either computing or computer science.
