Virginia Computer Science Demand

BLS reports there are 201,680 computer and mathematical jobs in the state of Virginia, with 2% job growth and 53.215 workers per 1000 jobs.

One of the reasons that Virginia is so attractive for technology and computer science jobs is the metro area comprising Washington DC, Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia, and Maryland. This area is not just the host of most of the federal government; it also is the home of huge technology related contracts that do business with government. Some of the biggest employers of technology, business and finance workers are Lockheed Martin, and Booz Allen Hamilton. The entire metro region including Northern Virginia has 75 technology employees per 1000 jobs.

CompTIA reported there were 425,300 technology professionals in the state in 2017, with a net job gain of 3890 from 2016 to 2017.
