Wisconsin Business Demand

US News and World Report notes that Wisconsin is #11 in the country in terms of its business and economic outlook. Areas of strength include quality of life at #3 and opportunity at #8. Forbes notes that the local economy is driven primarily by manufacturing, agriculture and healthcare. While the state government has been trying to promote the state as being pro business, results have been mixed to this point; the job outlook per Forbes is still in the bottom 20 of the US but it has improved greatly since being ranked a lowly #49 in 2010. The unemployment rate in Wisconsin according to BLS, however, is only 2.8%, ranking it #5 in the country, so it could be that more businesses are starting to buy into the state being ‘open for business,’ as its marketing campaign likes to say.
