Michigan Accounting Demand

Although Detroit has gone through tough times in the last 20 years, Michigan continues to be a solid contributor to the US economy with its role in international commerce. It is still a major hub of the US auto industry, and is one of the largest producers of corn, soybeans and wheat in the US. As of 2015, Michigan was home to three of the most profitable industries in the country: automobiles, advanced manufacturing, food and agriculture and freshwater technology and services.

Michigan is also home to companies including GM, Chrysler and Ford, where financial controllers, managerial accountants and auditors work. Accountants can also find work in state, local and the federal government throughout the state. The Defense Contract Audit Agency has offices in Grand Rapids and Livonia, and employs many accountants too.
