Nevada Business Demand

Nevada’s housing and tourism industries took a beating during the recession, but the state has been on the comeback trail for several years, with Las Vegas real estate soaring in value as the economic outlook has brightened.

US News and World Report has Nevada ranked as the #12 economy in the US with a low tax and regulation philosophy that attracts many large and small businesses. Some of the major industries that employ business degree graduates are aerospace and defense, agriculture, information technology, healthcare and energy. Mining is the biggest export industry in the state and tourism is also a major part of the economy because of its role as the entertainment capital of the world with the Las Vegas Strip.

A major economic and business development in recent years was the opening of a huge Tesla battery factory in 2014 that was built in the desert outside of Reno. It has led to thousands of high paying jobs and is leading to higher economic and population growth through this decade. Nevada’s unemployment rate is 4.8%, which puts it at #47 in the US.
