North Carolina Business Demand

North Carolina is one of the fastest-growing states in the country, with a population of 10 million people as of 2015, and is expected to rise to at least 12 million by 20235. Most of the growth in the state is focused on the major business center of Charlotte. It gained 50,000 new citizens in 2015. Also a major population center is the Research Triangle, which includes the cities of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. The Raleigh Durham area is a major business employer and is ranked #7 on US News and World Report’s best places to live.

Over the last few decades, the economy of the state is mostly focused on food processing, banking, pharmaceuticals and technology. All of these sectors are focused on an educated white collar business professional workforce, so business degree graduates can likely find a home in the Tarheel State. Charlotte has the second biggest banking sector in the country, and Research Triangle Park is the home to more than 200 companies. Bank of America in Charlotte is the largest financial and banking employer in the state. The state ranks #33 in the country in unemployment at #33.
