Utah Business Demand

US News and World Report states that Utah has the #2 economy in the United States. The most recent Economic Report to the Governor predicted additional growth that is being fueled by economic development across the state. The biggest job increases in 2018 are anticipated in the professional and business services, healthcare and construction. Some of the major projects that will fuel growth will be the redevelopment of the Salt Lake International Airport, a new state prison and also the construction of a huge Amazon fulfillment center outside of Salt Lake City in the next few years. Growth is also anticipated in the hospitality industry, with national parks and ski resorts in the state welcoming a record breaking number of visitors for 2017. The unemployment rate of 3.1% as of December 2017 was well under the national average of 4.1%. While the state lost 91,000 jobs during the Great Recession, it has gained more than 300,000 jobs since the end of the recession in 2010.
