This Master of Accountancy program allows students to satisfy the 150-hour licensure requirements for New York State and was developed because of two demands.

The first was the higher number of accountants who had undergraduate degrees in accounting and wanted to continue to develop in their professional accounting careers, which included public, corporate, nonprofit, and government accounting.

Also, due to the 150 credit hour education requirement that was established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants beginning in 2000, the program was created to qualify students to sit for the CMA and CPA examinations.

The AACSB-accredited program is made for students who have an undergraduate degree in accounting. Students who do not have this background can still earn their master’s with the completion of several prerequisite courses.
