Data warehouse engineers help to build and manage data warehouse strategies, and execute these as well. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics does not currently hold any data in their Occupational Outlook Handbook on data warehouse engineers. This is because it is a relatively new career. Data warehouse engineers usually work for large tech companies and many of them have found employment in Silicon Valley. Others work for large scale organizations, where data warehousing is a requirement.
How to Become
A data warehouse engineer has to focus on security, working together with software developers in order to make sure their creations are fit for purpose. This means that they must set the framework and hold responsibility for the overall quality of the framework and the data. Having experience in this is far more important than any degree, although a bachelor’s is usually preferred.
Most data warehouse engineers hold a bachelor’s degree level. Some have also obtained further certification. Data solutions certifications have been proven to be particularly beneficial.
