Marketing managers are responsible for the supervision of advertising and marketing activities. They take new merchandise campaigns and create advertising options for them so that the company can sell not just its products, but also itself. Sometimes, marketing managers will work with only one single product. At other times, they focus on an entire brand or even an entire company. They are responsible for managing the sales, advertising, research, and creative teams.

Typically, these managers are responsible for multiple marketing campaigns at the same time. They also conduct market research in order to find out which direction the other team members should move into.

It is vital that a marketing manager has fantastic organizational skills. Marketing campaigns must be fluid at all times, and these require precision timing and coordination. Some say that a marketing manager is more like an orchestra leader, focusing on different teams and groups.

Other job duties of include:

  • Working with various product managers, implementing and modifying initiatives and programs
  • Analyzing and monitoring the way marketing programs perform so that current strategies are optimized and better strategies can be created in future
  • Working with the team to create new market research studies, compiling and analyzing the data from their results, and using this data to drive new strategies
